A diagnosis of prostate cancer can be a very worrying time for patients, their families and friends. The Prostate Cancer Specialist Nursing Service is a national program to help those affected by cancer.
The Prostate Cancer Specialist Nursing Service focuses on providing nurses in both metropolitan and regional Australia to provide clinical and supportive care to men with prostate cancer. The Prostate Cancer Specialist Nurses are an expert point of contact for patients and families during the entire cycle of cancer care.
The Movember Foundation and the Wylie Fellowship generously provided the seed funding for the first part of the program in 2012. Further funding has been provided by the Federal Government in 2013 and 2017, resulting in additional Prostate Cancer Specialist Nurse positions nationally. Community funding has also contributed to an increase in nurses.
However, additional funds are still needed and PCFA is now calling on the Australian community and corporate Australia to provide support so the service can grow and secure more nurses across Australia.
Benefits of donating to this service:
- You will be helping the many thousands of men and their families cope with a prostate cancer diagnosis
- You will be helping to drive change in traditional models for providing supportive care
- PCFA supporter website recognition for major supporters.
All donations of $2 and over are tax deductible.
