History
The Barossa PSA Support Group became the second prostate cancer support group in South Australia when it was established in 1998. As it was the only S.A. regional group for many years it catered for people from a large area, with some having a round trip of more than 100km to attend meetings.
Activities
Monthly meetings were held, most with guest speakers, until 2008 when it was decided to have meetings every second month and to include some afternoon meetings. This is subject to annual review.
Most guest speakers travel from Adelaide, which is about 90km from the Barossa, and address prostate cancer or general health issues. We have also enjoyed speakers on topics like gardening and local history.
Social interaction has been encouraged and each year commences with a dinner meeting and concludes with a pre-Christmas picnic lunch.
Members receive and contribute to a monthly newsletter. The local newspapers have been very supportive, frequently including articles about prostate cancer and our group's activities.
Meeting Dates
3rd Tuesday of each month between 2:00pm - 4:00pm.
