The ACT Region PCSG comprises of men who are survivors of prostate cancer and their partners. While members of the Group do not provide medical advice, they can help the newly diagnosed man, his partner and those concerned for his welfare to understand the treatment options available and how these options can be accessed. They can also provide perspectives on what may lie ahead after treatment has been undertaken. Views and information from members of the Group can be obtained through attendance at monthly meetings and coffee mornings or by contacting individual members.
The Group actively promotes awareness about detection and treatment of prostate cancer in the community through events and awareness talks. They also maintain a library of print and audio-visual materials and send a monthly newsletter (The Walnut) via email to subscribers. Copies of The Walnut are also available on the Group’s website.
Membership of the Group is free.

Meetings
The Group holds monthly meetings and coffee mornings.
Usual meeting time and day
Monthly meetings | 6:30pm for meeting starting at 7:00pm, 3rd Wednesday of each month (except in December).
Usual location
Room 22, Building 1, 3 Collett Place
Pearce ACT 2607
The Group’s monthly meetings are normally held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month except in December. On occasions, a visit may be made to a special location, such as a cancer centre or a medical research facility, or a social event may be held instead. For this reason, please check the Group’s website (above) to confirm meeting details.
A speaker is normally invited to give a presentation to the Group’s monthly meeting. At these meetings there is the opportunity to ask questions, share information and network with other men about their prostate cancer diagnoses and treatments.
It is generally possible to ‘attend’ monthly meetings on Zoom. The Zoom links are available from: secretary@pcsg-act.org.au.
Coffee mornings
An informal coffee morning is held on the second Tuesday of each month. These alternate between the Woden and Jamison venues of the Canberra Southern Cross Club. Information about coming coffee mornings is provided on the Group’s website.
The views expressed on the Group’s website are those of the Prostate Cancer Support Group – ACT Region Inc. and are not necessarily those of the PCFA.
