Ballarat Prostate Cancer Support Group Leader Terry Grano is an avid ice-hockey fan, so when the opportunity came up to represent PCFA at a game in Melbourne – he was ready to hit the ice!
Mr Grano joined the Melbourne Mustangs blue round against the Sydney Bears at the O’Brien Icehouse last month to share more about his story and PCFA with the crowd.
The event, which attracted over 1,500 people, raised $2,000 for PCFA, with the highlight being the auction of a one-of-a-kind blue jersey - a very special deviation from the Mustangs team colours!
‘’I had never attended anything like this before, so it was a real thrill,” Mr Grano said.
“I was impressed with the amount of people in attendance, and I thought the Mustangs did a great job in promoting prostate cancer and having lots of print outs of information.
“It meant a lot to be able to represent PCFA and speak about my own experience with this disease, as well as promote our group for any men in the crowd who may be going through their own journey and needing support.”
Thanks to Mr Grano for taking action to help raise funds and awareness of prostate cancer.
Every conversation and every community appearance helps get more men talking about their risks and early detection.
Donations are still open for fans to donate to PCFA in support of the Mustangs: https://fundraise.pcfa.org.au/fundraisers/melbournemustangsicehockeyclub
