A new study by a team in the USA has characterised the complex interactions between genes and proteins in prostate cancer cells. Their investigation has provided a 'map' of events that are disrupted in prostate cancer cells compared to normal cells. They have concentrated on proteins that can be targeted with drugs, aiming to guide decisions by doctors and patients. This study take us a step closer to personalised medicine, where a person's cancer can fully characterised then targeted with a specifically designed treatment regime.
