Community Conversations 2018

Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA) is proud to bring to Melbourne our Community Conversations forum, to discuss the latest research and management of prostate cancer.

This event is now booked out, all presentations will be made available in June on PCFA's Online Community, visit onlinecommunity.pcfa.org.au.

This interactive forum will include

• A straightforward overview of the current treatment options for patients
• The latest developments from PCFA-funded research leading the way to improve management of prostate cancer
• Exercise recommendations that may assist in managing the side effects of prostate cancer treatments
• Recommendations that may help to improve sexual issues after receiving treatment
• Q&A session with health professionals on managing the day-to-day challenges of living with prostate cancer
• Personal stories shared by those who have experienced prostate cancer

Facilitator

Julie McCrossin talks to people for a living. After 20 years as a broadcaster with ABC Radio National, ABC TV and Network Ten, she is now a freelance journalist and facilitator.

Speakers

Megan Chiswell
is the Head of the Cancer Information and Support Service at Cancer Council Victoria. She oversees a portfolio of more than twenty support programs and services for people with cancer, including the 13 11 20 Cancer Information and Support Line, Financial Assistance Program, Cancer Education, Peer Support Programs and health professional training.

Ms Gay Corbett
is a Prostate Cancer Specialist Nurse at the Ballarat Health Services. With over 35 years of nursing and education experience, Gay supports men and their families in all areas of prostate cancer care.

Dr Nial Corcoran
is a urological surgeon at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and Frankston Hospital. He is also a researcher at The University of Melbourne and Epworth Prostate Centre where he studies the molecular drivers of lethal prostate cancer to develop new treatments.

Dr Bernie Crimmins
is a general practitioner working at Manningham General Practice in Melbourne. He has a professional interest in men's health, a topic on which he has published books and been awarded an Order of Australia Medal for his services.

A/Prof Sue Evans
is the registry custodian for the Australian Prostate Cancer Clinical Registry. As Director of the Centre of Research Excellence in Patient Safety at Monash University, she is committed to developing new and innovative ways of monitoring and improving quality of care.

Dr Patricia Neumann
is a Specialist Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist and lecturer at the University of South Australia. She is the Director of Physiotherapy Services at South Terrace Urology, a service available to men undergoing robotically-assisted radical prostatectomy at South Terrace Urology in South Australia.

Amanda Pomery
is Director of Support and Community Outreach at Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA). Her role focuses on implementation of awareness campaigns and supporting men and their families affected by prostate cancer.

Dr Ben Tran
is a medical oncologist and researcher at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research in Melbourne. His research aims to develop new drugs and personalised medicines to improve cancer treatment.
